Bushfire legal help – resources for lawyers

Bushfire Legal Help

Bushfire Legal Help has two main services: the Victorian Bushfire Legal Help Line (a phone information and advice service staffed by lawyers for people affected by the fires) and onsite legal services based at DHS-run relief and recovery centres around Victoria.

The resources in this section are for lawyers who are providing information and advice to people who have been affected by the bushfires. Information for people who have been affected by the bushfires is available on the Bushfire legal help website (new window).

Bushfire Legal Help is provided by a group of legal assistance providers, including Victoria Legal Aid, Law Institute of Victoria, Federation of Community Legal Centres, PILCH, Victorian Law Foundation and Victorian Bar Council.

Please contact Meagan Keogh, Central Co-ordinator, Bushfire Legal Help, if you need further information. Email enquiries to BushfireLegalHelp@vla.vic.gov.au.
